Rick Harvest is a Clinical Somatic Educator-in-training with Essential Somatics®. He has been teaching yoga for more than 15 years, and has a background in teaching, music, and the arts. After a long history of living with pain and depression since he was a child, Rick "stumbled" into the yoga world in 2000 and has never looked back. He has taught yoga since 2002 and now runs a beautifully situated studio in Kensington, close to the heart of Melbourne.
"...I have had the privilege of studying with some truly wonderful teachers over the years: Gita Yoga; Donna Farhi; Paul Wooden; Richard Miller; Judith Lasater; Phoenix Rising Yoga therapy, to mention just a few. They have each helped to inform both my practice and my teaching.
My aims as a teacher are constantly changing; these days perhaps the most important thing for me is to point people in the direction of finding ease within their own lives.
I came across Somatics originally through Donna Farhi’s teaching. And most fortunately have had the opportunity to now work with Martha Peterson. I still live with pain almost on a daily basis — but I find the work of Essential Somatics to be compelling and empowering. And slowly I seem to be finding a level of ease myself that has always eluded me."
